Barry Lane, Kitchen & Bath Design Manager, CCL HomeScapes
1. When did you first join the team at Cape Cod Lumber?
"I joined CCL in 1993 after selling kitchens for a big box company for 10 years. We had a nice showroom then, which has since morphed into HomeScapes, a kitchen design destination for homeowners." After 10 years at Cape Cod Lumber, Barry left the team but returned again in 2015 as Kitchen Design Manager of the brand-new HomeScapes showroom in Abington, overseeing the destination kitchen design resource for homeowners.
2. What do you love about kitchen design?
"It’s very fulfilling. No two projects are the same, and you can put some of your own style into everyone’s kitchen. So much of good design centers around the function of a space. When not working I love to cook, so I know my way around a kitchen, and want to inject functional efficiency into a client's space."
Barry's style: contemporary, modern colors (earth tones, soft grays and creams in contrast with deep browns and grays)
3. What is unique about the HomeScapes showroom?
"Our showroom is set up to allow ease of exploration, not overwhelming visitors but leading them through the displays in a helpful way. Most people come in with an idea of the end result they're looking to achieve, and the showroom actually helps them along in that process. The Kitchen side of showroom is a fashion business so the team has to stay on the cutting edge of trends in color and materials."
One way Barry and the kitchen design team stay on top of new trends is to keep a wide variety of kitchen displays updated continually, making CCL HomeScapes the first place people can see the newest tiles, backsplashes, and surfaces that can be used for their next project.

4. What do you want people to know about Cape Cod Lumber?
"We are a people-oriented company from the top-down. Our employee-owned culture has created an environment where employees truly love what they do, and our clients take notice of this. The team at CCL works with clients from a range of budgets, needs, and project sizes to deliver tailored designs with exemplary customer service."
